Blogs : ND MEDIA IGNORE HEITKAMP CAUSED FINE OF RADIO GIANT
By:
Joel Heitkamp, radio talk show host, state senator, brother of former attorney general and governor candidate, driving mouth behind the political lynching of Sandy Blunt and WSI causes his former employer, Clear Channel Communications to be fined $12,000. Having taken a voice-mail that he received in early 2006, edited out the beginning and ending of that voice-mail, then waited about 6 months to play his truncated version on his syndicated KFGO, KFYR, KCJB radio program completely out of context to giving the calculated misrepresentation that the voice-mail was not months old when it was broadcast in early December of 2006. Next, Heitkamp lies about these facts on his July 9, 2009 radio program. When asked about it by caller Rob. He would not answer Robs repeated questions as to if the voice-mail had been edited nor would he comment on the time span between the message being received and subsequently broadcast.
Twenty four hours after being informed of the FCC fine, The Bismarck Tribune remains silent on their website They will not even link to the AP stories about the situation. Prairie Public Radio seems intent on ignoring this story as well. I conjectured a day ago that the Fargo Forum would ignore this as well but they have not. KFYR radio, "The Voice of the Northern Plains" is the "Silence of the Northern Plains" on this issue, preferring to focus on such important stories as Baby Names, and the active flu season ending. Such is the state of ND media. It would be hilarious if it was not so sad.
This is the same group that will claim unbiased political neutrality. Shameful.
