OPPOSE THE CABAL OF CONTROL-FREAK NAZIS

The lies keep coming from this cabal of control-freak Nazis. In some states, trans fats have now been banned for your own good. (It’s now impossible to get good french fries in New York.) A city councilman in St. Charles, Mo., is now trying to ban obscenities in bars for your own good. These people need to be stopped, or in our lifetimes they will be controlling our entire lives for our own good.

BE CONSISTENT ABOUT OUT-OF-STATE DOLLARS

Americans for Prosperity is an out-of-state organization. Of course, there are other organizations whose personnel are paid from Washington, D.C. The North Dakota Democratic Party has at least one staffer, if not more, who is paid for directly by the Democratic National Committee - most definitely an out-of-state organization.

What’s the point? Either all out-of-state money is bad, or none of it is. This selective outrage has to stop. If a newspaper is going to single out where money is coming from, it better do it across the board.

SUBTLE BIAS EVIDENT IN ABORTION REPORTING

When referring to those who favor legalized abortion, the media never use their position as a label – pro-abortion – but prefer to use their marketing slogan: pro-choice. Yet the same deference is never given to those against legalized abortion. When was the last time you heard this camp referred to as “pro-life?”

GROWING HEMP NOT IN CANADA'S INTEREST

I must agree with writers who say North Dakota should not grow hemp.

If North Dakota begins to grow and harvest hemp, it may eliminate the monopoly Canada has over the growing of this crop that requires little or no pesticides or fertilizers. This may very well cut into our profits.

ROMNEY IS BEST CANDIDATE FOR HEALING ECONOMY

When it comes to the economy, there is really only one candidate who knows how to make things happen. As a very successful businessman, who has created companies and jobs, and as a successful governor, who has fostered economic growth through his policies, Mitt Romney understands both the human and economic dimensions of policy decisions. He knows how to make things happen and how to grow the economy.

FORUM MUST THINK READERS ARE STUPID

Just how stupid do you think we are?

The Forum traded highly desirable, probably expensive strips for a bunch of probably cheap, senseless cartoons. You sacrificed what the public wanted for purely economic reasons. You did not, in your words, “freshen” the comic page, you only managed to putrefy it.

PUSH FOR COAL-TO-GAS MONUMENTAL MISTAKE

Massive subsidies from Uncle Sam – which is the only thing that could make plant construction a go – might hide this cost, but they would not eliminate it. Motorists would simply pay for it in their tax bill instead of at the pump.

Large-scale coal-to-liquids production will also significantly hasten the depletion of our coal reserves.

MISSING THE REAL STORY ON ND

Many of us are disappointed at the January issue of the National Geographic Magazine article, "The Emptied Prairie," showing North Dakota in a series of abandoned farm buildings, schools and cars languishing in an empty, snowy grassland. The article was written by Charles Bowden, and there is no way of knowing what objective or agenda he had in mind, but it is clearly single-minded in its theme: This part of the country is dying - no, it's already dead.

CLOSE PUBLIC SCHOOLS; PROBLEMS ARE SOLVED

The way to get religion out of the public schools, or back into education, depending on your preference, is to eliminate public education (a contradiction in terms), and let all education be privately funded.

This was the system under which the Founding Fathers lived, and no one would dare contend they were uneducated.

The abolition of public schools would also eliminate the need for property taxes. Fewer old folks would be forced out of their homes. Controversies over religion in the schools (pagan, Christian or otherwise) would completely disappear.

NORTH AMERICAN UNION A BAD IDEA

NAU is on the way. The U.S. and Canadian dollars and the worthless peso will be scrapped and replaced by the "Namero." Anyone from the three former countries will be allowed to move freely anywhere in North America; border patrols will be things of the past. Drug smugglers won't have to smuggle, but will simply haul it on the superhighway. No one from Mexico or Canada will be deported, so why bother about Panamanians?

SPINELESS DELEGATION PUNTS ON HEMP ISSUE

Too bad our North Dakota representative and senators turned spineless on the hemp issue. They must figure U.S. farmers are too stupid to provide the hemp oil in my refrigerator or the fabric in Mrs. Jesse Ventura’s inaugural dress. Only foreign farmers are allowed to provide those products.

WSI PROBLEMS NOT ALL GOP FAULT

Thiel and Murch have taken a page from Washington political nastiness, using half- truths, innuendo and personal attacks to advance their political agenda. Since the bill's vote and sponsorship are a matter of record, it's clear that either they are so blinded by partisan politics that they ignore the facts, or worse, that they are willfully distorting the facts for political gain. The last thing WSI needs, and the last thing North Dakota needs now that we're making real progress, is their brand of malicious partisan politics.

PUBLIC SCHOOLS HAVE BECOME INDOCTRINATION CENTERS

There was a time, some 60 years ago, when this video would be shown with no problem in our schools. That was a time when the Bible and prayer were part of the curriculum. That was a time before our government, courts and misdirected activists systematically began eliminating God from all aspects of our society.

READ BIBLE TO RESIST SOCIETY’S MORAL DECAY

Finally someone who gets it right. As I read the letter to the editor regarding this gallant and brave teacher, I found myself being thankful for a teacher who has shown that they really do have their students’ best interest at heart. Exposing them to the truth. We have our children exposed to everything else, don’t we? Want proof? Take a look at television and see what the networks think we need to see.

PARTY PREJUDICE, SNIPING ONLY PROLONGS PROBLEMS AT WSI

Because the governor has no authority over WSI, he also has no authority over the details of Blunt’s termination. Moreover, Hoeven has expressed his disappointment with the board’s decision to award Blunt the severance package and he and his administration have consistently shown support for restoring the governor’s authority over WSI. In addition, human resources consultants, void of partisan and personal politics that exist at WSI, will help pinpoint specific problems that damage operations at WSI.

WAY TO FIX NATION IS TO BURY LIBERALISM

As I see it, the fix for nation’s woes is to bury the horrible, lethal epidemic of liberalism. A good place to start would be to introduce common-sense math and problem-solving back into our schools and especially our homes. To teach our children responsibility and above all to take some responsibility ourselves would be the greatest gift and legacy we could give to our children.

RAIDING NAWS WOULD BE FOOLISH

Using NAWS funds for any purpose other than NAWS would be unwise at best. To use it to build a project few will use and even fewer will benefit from is questionable. To entrust these funds to the people who have allowed our existing facilities to fall into disrepair to the point they are unsafe to use would be foolish in the extreme.

Possibly proponents of public funding for the Community Bowl should look the Magic Fund money to pay for a Community Bowl. After all the Magic Fund has millions of dollars that could be made readily available.

BE CAREFUL OF 'COMPASS'

If people have not heard already, the new movie "The Golden Compass" is out in some theaters and still coming out in others. Its writer/director, Philip Pullman, is an atheist who is trying to entice our children into seeing the movie. He also has a series of books, including 'The Subtle Knife," "The Golden Compass," "His Dark Materials" and "The Amber Spyglass," in which there is a war in heaven and God is killed off so people can do as they please.

AMERICAN INDIANS SHOULD QUIT WHINING

The whining and crying from the American Indians is getting very old. They say we, non-Indians, need to move on. Well maybe it is time for them to move on and quit whining.

PROGRESS IN IRAQ, BUT WE HEAR ONLY SILENCE

I have to wonder where are the congratulatory remarks to our military commanders from those who opposed the surge in the first place? Where are the press releases from ranking government officials stating that while they were honest in their opposition to the surge at first, they now are happy that it did in fact work. Where are they?
